Captain Jay is an experienced captain that will lead you to fill the ice box with tuna, marlin, wahoo, dolphin (mahi-mahi), sailfish, king mackerel, grouper, sea bass, tilefish, snappers and many other species of fish.

Runaway Sportfishing Charters is located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina in the fishing village of Hatteras. Hatteras is well known for its surfing, swimming, historic landmarks, and its excellent fishing. From the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, you can see way out across the ocean towards some of the most excellent fishing grounds. Captain Jay welcomes you aboard the Runaway to experience his love of fishing. Make it an enjoyable time by bringing your family and friends.

Runaway is docked at Teach’s Lair Marina in Hatteras along highway 12.

Your experience doesn’t end once your back at the dock. Here you can sit down to view the waters on the sound as you watch boats deliver their catches for the day. Take up guesses on who is coming in with the biggest catch.

Local Tournaments

Runaway participates in local sportfishing tournaments such as Hatteras Village Offshore Open, Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, Ducks Unlimited Billfish Tournament, and the Pirates Cove Billfish Tournament. Runaway is available for anyone to charter to participate in any one of these local tournaments. Contact Captain Jay to discuss.

What to expect

Hatteras Inlet is one of the closet points to the Gulf stream along the east coast north of Florida. It is a beautiful ride from the marina to the gulf stream where you can experience some of the most excellent sunrises. It is the best way to start an exceptional day of fishing and will be one of your best memories of what you did while at the Outer Banks.
