Captain Jay Daniels

Captain Jay Daniels is from Gastonia, North Carolina. His passion for fishing began on fresh water lakes and rivers at a young age. In 2003, after moving to Hatteras, North Carolina he took up fishing in the Gulf Stream. Starting out as a mate on various boats he soon learned how to navigate through some of the best fishing waters in the world. He enjoys sharing what he knows about fishing with all of his customers. Being a USCG certified captain, he understands the responsibilities of getting you to and from the fishing grounds safely.

When trolling in the gulf stream, he loves to target Mahi-Mahi (dolphin), Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna and all Billfish. If you prefer to bottom fish, Captain Jay likes to deep drop for golden tile, triggers, snappers, grouper and black sea bass.

The Boat

The Runaway is a 46' Carolina boat built by Sheldon Midgett in Wanchese, NC. It has a spacious cabin with A/C & heat, as well as a large cockpit that accommodates 6 fisherman and a fighting chair. The boat is also equipped with top notch electronics such as NAV- NET navigation system, Furuno depth finders, radar and temperature gauges. Providing its customers with some of the finest fishing gear such as Penn and Shimano rod and reels.
